Geordie Shepherd

I was one of those kids who could always be found with pencil crayons and paper in hand, drawing away. During my BFA at Concordia University in Montreal, I took Ceramics as an elective, and fell in love with clay, and forever afterwards could always be found in the Ceramics lab. Whenever my painting professor John Fox, wanted to find me, he said he always knew to look in the ceramics lab. While Clay took over as my primary medium, I still relied heavily on story writing, drawing and video to locate and develop my ideas and artistic possibilities. I am not the type of artist who likes to return to the same idea repeatedly, so my studio practice has evolved through various ideas over the years, exploring themes rooted in a sense of self and place here and now, and imaginary. I have participated in multiple residencies and currently maintain an art studio in London and teach Studio Art at the University of Western Ontario.
